Melodies Forever

By Teela Yoshi

Time: 9:15 AM

Teela had transported back to her home in the Illusion Forest. She was, however, a bit disturbed to find out that her ghostly parents had already dissapeared...

"I love you..." Teela whispered into the cold shadowy basement wind.

"W-We loveee yyooouu ttoo..." Teela heard the words the winds were holding as they searched for a way out into the world.

"Chirp?"

"Leave? Eh, well um..."

"Leaving so soon?" A figure stood in the doorway. Teela then realized in utter fear who it was...

"Reema..." Teela had the fear in her eyes as the figure stepped into the candlelight. It was a Yoshi girl, red with black hair. She also held an axe in her hands that Teela eyes cautiously.

"I knew you'd be back! Ha! You stupid demon... Pathetic excuse for a vampire."

"I'm not a vampire, you lousy freak." Teela then remembered those days they used to be best friends. "Reema! Please... You must understand. We used to be best friends! Why can't we be now?!"

"Friends? HAHA! I'll kill you."

"You did say we'd fight again someday when I was back on my feet..."

"No! I told you. I fight fair... You don't strike someone when they're helpless and weak. Plus, you were weaponless, you fool!"

"You still have a heart! Come on! I'm not a monster! Just because I'm different doesn't mean you have to kill me!"

"Be glad I spared you the first time! Geez... You'll pay. You monster! You will not get my blood, or anyone's for that matter! YOU DIE HERE AND NOW!" Reema yelled as she jumped high. Teela looked disturbed because she knew that her old friend Reema had training, and she didn't.

"I wish you'd understand," Teela explained as her eyes turned a dark and scary color. "I shall not die." Teela moved out of the way as she swerved around and grabbed her sword.

Teela jumped higher than Reema had, but she wasn't going to bring the sword down. Teela stayed up in the air as Reema looked like she had seen a ghost.

"Y-You monster!" Reema yelled as she jumped and grabbed Teela's arm to try to pull her down. Reema held her axe, which heavily weighed her down. She fell towards the ground, but landed on her feet. Reema had a scared yet fierce look in her eyes. Teela then came back to the ground as she held out her blade in front of her.

"You have a chance to leave," Teela explained darkly as Reema just looked at her, every ounce of anger flaring up.

"YOU KILLED THOSE PEOPLE!!!" Reema yelled as she charged with her axe held high.

"NO! I DID NOT!" Teela argued back as she dodged. Something then yelled inside her head.

STRIKE NOWWW!!!

Teela didn't know what the voice was, but she did as it suggested. Reema jumped as she narrowly dodged the attack. Teela then realized she was going to have to watch closely.

"LIAR!" Reema yelled once again as she then dropped the axe and started to try to fight Teela with her hands and feet. Teela wanted to be fair so she tossed the sword aside as well. Teela was good at fighting with her hands and feet; she had never actually practiced with a real sword. It was a light-weight sword, at least.

Reema was kicking like crazy, Teela receiving blows often, but she still stood. Teela started to block every hit as she then shot out her fist when Reema tried to punch her stomach. Reema smiled as she did a backflip to retrieve her axe. Teela simply ran back to receive her sword once again. Reema charged once again as Teela held out her sword in fear. Reema brought the axe lower to Teela's side as Teela jumped. Reema jumped up as Teela went down. The axe chopped off part of Teela's long hair as Teela cast a glance to her hair.

"I LIKED MY HAIR THE WAY IT WAS!!!" Teela yelled as she landed on the ground, energy going through every muscle in her body. She started to swing her sword around crazily, Reema having an easy time blocking. Reema then stuck out her foot and tripped Teela.

"You're pathetic." Reema sighed as she stood looking down at Teela.

"You're heartless," Teela explained as Reema held her axe to Teela's chest. She held it up high as Teela shut her eyes, hoping it would subdue the pain. It was already too late for her to teleport because she needed concentration to do so, but her head was racing through so many things right then. Reema brought the axe down on Teela's chest, and it seemed as if time had then frozen.

"WHY CAN'T I DO IT?!" Venoma asked himself as he stood on the ground near a tree stump. He was trying to telaport like Teela. Then he felt some type of energy go through him. He realized something was wrong.

TEELA? Are you there? You should come back now...

...

Teela?

...

COME ON! REPLY! THIS ISN'T FUNNY! Venoma shouted with anger throughou his head. He then saw a blurry vision in Teela's head. It was of the basement, and Reema with an axe.

Oh no...

Venoma felt helpless as he realized he was going to try to teleport one more time. His heart was beating with rage, and yet most of it was worry. He pictured the place he just saw, and felt himself being carried gently by the winds.

"THIS IS SO COOL!"

"I wonder where Teela is." Karma sighed deeply. Ludwig was sitting across from Karma, thinking about the particles that make up the sky. Vara was sitting right by Karma.

"I have a theory," Vara commented.

"Vara, please, talk like a normal person." Ludwig growled lightly as he was feeling a bit annoyed from hearing someone talk like this. Vara had been talking normally earlier, so why not now?

"Alright. But I think Venoma is with Teela."

"Doing what?"

"Probably getting married," Ludwig joked as he started to laugh at the picture.

"No. Teela just wouldn't be off doing nothing. She just left the emergency room, and didn't even bother to say bye," Karma replied with a worried tone.

"Wherever she went, Venoma would have gone to look for her. I mean, he doesn't leave anyone behind," Vara commented as Kamek then walked out of the castle to where they sat.

"I found that book!" he explained as Karma rolled her eyes.

"Sure took you long enough," Vara said with an attitude; exactly what Karma was going to say.

"You do still want to see the book, right?" Kamek asked as Karma skook her head.

"No. We know enough, I don't want to be in Kamek's school of magic or whatever."

"Fine..." Kamek then looked around counting everyone. "Where are the other two?"

"Who knows?" Karma had no hope, and her voice sounded so forlorn.

"I see... Then all we can do is wait..." Kamek explained as he trailed off into the grass.

"Where you going?"  Ludwig asked as he stood up, his blue hair swaying gently in the breeze.

"You don't need me around. I'm happy to see you have friends, or somethng of the sort. Just don't get caught..." Kamek explained as he then headed off towards Kastle Koopa without another word.

"He's right," Vara added as she continued to look up into te sky.

The axe was brought down, but it passed right through Teela. Teela opened one eye slowly, and then the other to look down upon her transparent body. She smiled and looked to Reema.

"W-What is this?" Reema questioned, her eyes wide.

"Ha... I seemed to have hit the technique jackpot!" Teela smiled as Reema then got a terrified look on her face. Teela stood up as Reema started to swing her axe around, each swing passing harmlessly through her.

"Yo-You're unstoppable!" Reema then started to run. Someone else then appeared in the room, and Reema bumped right into them.

"Teela?" It was none other than Venoma.

"Hehe... Hi!" she said as Venoma's jaw dropped to the ground.

"SHE KILLED YOU?" he yelled as Teela started to laugh, the dark look still remaining.

"No. But I'm going to kill her..." Teela then smiled a dark smile that made Venoma feel like something was wrong here.

"Teela... no." Venoma sighed as he still held Reema prisoner. "You don't kill people. It's wrong, remember?"

"Wha? Wrong? SHE WAS TRYING TO KILL ME!" Teela yelled as she held out her sword and charged. Venoma then closed his eyes, and appeared right beside Teela. He tripped her as she stumbled to fall flat on her face.

"Don't mess with me, Teela. Don't make me slap some sense into you." Teela then got to her knees as she realized he was right.

"Ah... Sorry. I guess I'm a little unstable. I don't know what came over me."

"It's probably just the fangs. It seems that now you're fine. Are you sure though?"

"Yeah. Reema, I don't know why you'd like to kill me so badly, but I guess we're now even. I wanted to kill you, you wanted to kill me. There is no reason for such feeling. The point is, I'm almost just like you. These are just fangs. I'm not a vampire thing. Neither is he. Now, you can either leave me alone, and I'll leave you alone, or we can take you somewhere and lock you up."

"Hm... How about I come with you?"

"Wha? We're not going anywhere."

"You're certainly not staying here, as I heard you."

"Huh... You're right." Teela then realized that monster was huge. She would need all the people she could get.

"I can handle a bow as well. I'll be useful!"

"No. We're not going on any journey..."

"Still! I want to leave this wretched village. The zombies are coming closer and closer each night!"

"You guys monitor them?" Teela asked, surprised.

"Yes. The village elder predicts that we'll have to leave. He also said that pretty soon, all of Illusion Forest will be crawling with zombies.

"What if she tries to kill us?" Venoma asked as Teela looked at him.

"You're crazy-"

"Shut up Reema. She could do so..." Teela stood and thought for a moment. "I don't think King Koopa would like this many trespassers."

"I won't! I WANT TO LEAVE WITH YOU!!" Reema yelled as Teela shook her head.

"I don't know..."

"Let's just see what the others have to say..." Venoma paused to see what Teela would say.

"Good idea..." Teela then sat down on one of the old dusty chairs that seemed like a perfect item to decorate the already creepy basement. Chirpy flew down and landed on her head.

"Teela, can I speak to you alone?" Venoma asked as he stood there patiently. Teela gave a confused look, and then nodded an acception.

"Yeah, what can I do for ya?" Teela asked as she then followed Venoma up the stairs. Reema sat there as Teela turned back to her once more. "Don't go anywhere. I'll hunt you down. You're now my prisoner."

Teela and Venoma walked up the stairs as Reema watched them trail off. She then sat down on the old furniture as well. "Trust is a pathetic way to die," she whispered silently. "It seems that it affects everyone sooner, or later. Especially those who are weak-hearted. HAHA!" Reema said silently to herself as she then leaned back to relax.

"What about her?"

"Let's just leave her!" Venoma suggested as Teela smiled. Chirpy got a smug look in its eyes as it agreed with the idea. It did not like Reema. Chirpy had been hiding in a corner of the room when the fight broke out.

"That's a wonderful idea! Let's do it," Teela had a glowing look on her face as Venoma smiled.

"You just want to leave her here?"

"She changed sides too quickly. Although, she's always been a quick one to change her mind, if the offender has a good enough reason... or if she wants something."

"Sounds like a back-stabber."

"No! Not at all. She was a good friend until she changed." Teela had a warm, caring look on her face as she recalled one of the many heart-warming memories.

Flashback

"Please! Leave me alone! I never did anything to you!" Two boys were pushing around a young version of Teela. They were a Birdo and a Koopa Troopa. Another Yoshi came out of nowhere holding a soccer ball.

"Leave her alone! We're first graders, not wrestlers!" The young Yoshi girl was Reema. The two boys looked at each other, and then left. Reema helped Teela up as they smiled at each other.

"Hi. I'm Teela! Who are you?"

"I'm Reema. You don't look like you were doing anything to them, why were they picking on you?"

"I don't know. Wanna be friends?"

"Sure... I wouldn't mind that."

End Flashback

Teela smiled as Venoma wondered what she was thinking.

"What's up? Something wrong? You're not thinking of killing her again, are you?"

"No. Just remembering some childhood memories."

"Oh... You looked dazed."

"Oh.. Well, let's leave her."

"Alright..."

Teela closed her eyes as she then thought regretfully of Reema. Chirpy landed on her shoulder expectantly, ready to leave.

"Forget about her. Hey! You got me..." Venoma said thoughtfully as Teela opened up her eyes and smiled. They then resumed concentrating on leaving...
