Gruntilda came into the picture when her magic cauldron told her that Tootie, not she, was the prettiest. She set out to steal the girl's beauty, but her brother Banjo and his friend Kazooie went out to stop her, receiving help along the way from their friend Bottles and Grunty's former teacher Mumbo Jumbo. They met up at the top of her tower for an intense battle. In the end a giant Jinjo knocked Grunty over the edge. A huge rock fell on her and she could not get up.

Later Grunty's two sisters came and removed the huge rock. Gruntilda returned from her grave with all her power but with no skin. She set out to zap the island's energy so she could use her sisters' invention to recover her skin, but Banjo and Kazooie came to stop her again. At Cauldron Keep they met and Gruntilda ended up destroyed herself when her homing spell got knocked down into her tank. Her body became dismembered but she is still alive and vows revenge.

Larry: Somehow Grunty has made it to Roy's Boxing Arena in her original form... should be a really interesting battle. But I don't see how Roy can stand up to her attacks, so I expect Gruntilda will win. Now... I will die here in peace.
