The New Life of Bowser

Finished by Keven Koopa, originally by Buddy

Go see the original story.

Bowser didn’t know what to think anymore. I mean, here he was with his three children and two people he used to hate, and they were just having a normal conversation. It seemed strange to be able to talk freely and laugh along with your enemies, knowing what had happened. He wondered if Mario and Peach felt the same way. But his concerns weren’t all about them. He turned his head towards Iggy and started talking.

“I’m so glad that you’re ok, Iggy.” Bowser said to him. Saying this, however, Iggy turned away facing the fireplace. He sighed.

“I’m sorry, Father, but there’s one thing that I must do, something that must be done. I didn’t meant for it to be this way.”

Bowser seemed confused and worried. His eyes had grown a bit as he got an idea of what Iggy was talking about. He walked over to the fireplace. “W-What do you mean, Iggy?” he tried to ask, but Iggy merely looked the other way and just replied.

“I’m sorry, Father, but in order to be king of Dark Land, the original king must be dead.

Bowser’s eyes grew large, as this is what he feared. Morton spit out his hot coffee while Mario, Peach, and Wendy just gasped.

“My god…” Bowser said. “Iggy… You can’t mean.”

“Father, it is my duty to become king. Don’t you get it? I want to rule Dark Land. I will make sure my troops take over the Mushroom Kingdom and go and take over other places where you could’ve gone!” Iggy spun around to reveal his eyes now filled with anger and hatred.

“And you’re willing to kill your own blood in order to rule?!” Bowser shouted back.

“You- You just… You don’t understand. You just don’t…” Iggy said as he ran out of the room and then to the left.

“Iggy’s not sorry at all,” Bowser realized, eyes now filled with fear.  Knowing Iggy, he probably had a huge machine designed to kill large Koopas.

“I’ll help you,” Mario said, standing up.

“Mario!” Peach said.

“No, Peach!” Mario said, setting her down. “I must help.”

Bowser looked over in Mario’s direction and looked confused, but touched.

“You’ll… help me? After all these years of fighting I’ve done with you?”

“What’s done is done,” Mario said. “There is no need to bring up the past.”

“Kids, you stay here. Where it’s safe,” Bowser said. Immediately however, there was an uproar.

“But DAAAADD! CAN’T I COME WITH YOU?!” Morton whined.

“BUT DADDDY! I KNOW EVERY INCH OF THIS CASTLE!”

“NO!” Bowser shouted over the noises. He then quickly calmed down.

“I'd rather lose one than lose three,” Bowser said looking down, so he could hide his tears.

“If anything happens, you three get out,” he said before we walked out the door.

He closed the door and locked it so that nobody could come in, and started walking down a direction of a corridor when he found a walking servant.

“Excuse me, do you know where Master Iggy is?” Bowser said, feeling weird calling his own son master.

“I’m sorry, sir, but I cannot allow it because Master Iggy forbid it just a few moments ago.

This wasn’t the right answer for Bowser. He wanted answers and he wanted them now even if he had to use force.

“Ugh! I am THROUGH being stepped on!” he sai,d grabbing the Koopa's shell and smashing it across the wall.

“Now TELL ME WHERE HE IS!” Bowser shouted, grabbing the poor servant’s shell again. Fortunately, the Koopa had enough strength to speak.

“H-H-He went to his b-battle arena. Just two floors d-down,” he said.

“Thank you… Rester,” Bowser said remembering his name. This time, feeling more calm, he gently placed Rester on the floor and ran towards the stairs.

“So… you’re evil again, I assume?” Mario said rolling his eyes.

“Of course notm” Bowser said. “I just get frustrated too easily.”

They soon came to a spiral staircase and Bowser ran down it with Mario running just behind him. Then they came to a stop on the floor.

Mario, somewhat exhausted said, “Is this it?”

“No. Us Koopas like to have our staircases built side to side, so that our enemies have a tougher way to escape. Don’t worry, it’s just a few more ways,” Bowser said.

They started running straight again until they were stopped by a group of servants.

“Halt!” one of them said.

“Master Iggy said not to let you by,” another said. There seemed to be eight of them.

“We don’t have time for you!” Bowser said.

“Leave this one to me,” Mario said as he grabbed a Fire Flower in his pocket. (He found some in the room earlier.)

He started throwing fire around everywhere. As the group got set on fire, though, they still acted as though they had some strength left.

“We will never reach Iggy in time,” Bowser said as Mario continued to throw fire. Bowser ducked into his shell and started spinning around so fast that electricity started to come out of his shell. As he moved around (still in his shell) he shocked everyone (except for Mario, of course). That seem to do it. The servants fainted and Mario and Bowser walked on pass.

“Amateurs,” Bowser mumbled.

They soon came up to a staircase. Their staircase. Their last destination.

Bowser stood there looking down at the staircase until Mario broke the silence.

“Well… I guess this is it…” Mario said as they both started down the steps.

Chapter 6: The Last Revolution

“Well well well” They heard a familiar sound.

“Look who followed me here,” Iggy said.

“Iggy, Listen, you don’t have to do this,” Bowser said. “We could work together again, I could bring the klan together. We could be whole like we were before.”

“But I do,” Iggy simply said, holding a claw up to shut Bowser up.

Then Iggy did an evil chuckle. So evil it might have broken the record of Bowser’s.

“I mean really… It’s what Mom would’ve wanted, right?”

“My god… Iggy!” Bowser said, outraged that Iggy would bring his mother into this.

“So… you didn’t lie to me then,” Iggy said. “You really DID kill her.”

“What difference does it make now, Iggy? I made a huge mistake, and I take it back!”

“Ah, but that’s why you killed her, didn’t you? You feared that she might take advantage of you in ruling,” Iggy said.

“WHAT ABOUT ME?” Iggy shouted as he jumped into the air and did a backflip onto a platform.

“IGGY! STOP!” Bowser said.

“Do you really think it’s going to be that easy?” Iggy said.

“I’m just getting the revenge I want. The revenge that mother should’ve had.”

As he said this, the platform was raising him up to the center of the room. As he was talking, bits and pieces started connecting together in midair to make a giant robot. Iggy was in the center of the robot, there was a glass wall so Iggy could see.

“Let’s see you break… this!” Iggy said.

Mario and Bowser were startled. Neither one was prepared for this type of battle. As such, they stood there without a plan.

Iggy with his giant machine had dropped a load of bombs around the area. The bombs, much like the one that Bowser encountered in the closet, had a homing end on them.

“W-What do we do? We can’t jump on them!” Mario said.

“They defuse with a hotter fire, believe it or not,” Bowser said.

As he said this, Bowser took a deep breath and shot his flames at the bombs, and sure enough, they stopped working. This gave Mario and idea.

“Hey, if that shield is made out of pure glass, then we could throw the bombs to break it and it might screw up the controls as well.”

“Hmm… It’s worth a shot, I guess,” Bowser said as he picked up a defused bomb and rewound it up to three seconds. He then threw it as hard as he could to the glass portion of the robot. Not only did it break the glass, but it also tilted the robot over, sending Iggy out face-flat.

Bowser ran up to Iggy and tried to pick him up while Mario tried to take some parts off of him.

“Son, are… Are you ok?” Bowser said, concerned about his son.

“Gah! I’m fine,” Iggy said as he jumped from the junk pile and pulled out his wand.

“I don’t need some mechanism to destroy you,” he said as he started to cast magic.

“Take a load of what my brother taught me!” Iggy said and he pointed the wand at Mario. A huge, blue ball started homing its way towards Mario. Mario, terrified, started to try to dodge it, but it was too late. The ball had hit him and Mario was slowly freezing from foot up to head. In no time he was completely frozen.

Iggy was laughing uncontrollably. He then pointed his claw at Bowser. "Now
for you."

Bowser didn’t know what to do. He knew what he had to do, but it was definitely not his favorite thing to do.

“I… I have to try,” Bowser said.

And he tried to imagine Iggy as someone he hated. He now knew what it was like for Mario to fight Shadow Queen.

“Well well. I’m amazed.” Iggy said. “You actually will fight me. No matter, I’ll still win.”

Bowser wasn’t listening. He was slowly progressing with each step towards Iggy. “You’ve gone TOO far this time, Iggy.”

Iggy shrugged it off and cast another spell at Bowser. But Bowser was prepared this time. He used his breath to melt the ball into oblivion.

“Nice,” Iggy said.

This time, though, he cast a different spell. “How do you like this one?” He cast a spell that was toxic. Bowser, smarter than his son still, had ducked into his shell and spun into it so that a mini tornado would blow the toxic gas away.

He then homed into his son and popped out, so that his horns would hit Iggy. The impact was so strong, it made Iggy go flying into the air, dropping his wand. Now wanting to finish this battle, Bowser slashed Iggy on the arm, right on the arm where Bowser bit him earlier. The slash was so powerful, Iggy was too weak to stand.

“It can’t… be…” he said.

“No… not yet.” Until he fainted.

Bowser walked up to his now fallen son and found that his chest had stopped moving. His life had came to an end. Bowser had tears pouring out of his eyes and they slattered on the bleeding arm. “I… I’m sorry… Iggy,” he said. Then he ran to the frozen plumber to melt him with the fire breath.

“W-W-What happened?” Mario asked.

“It’s all over,” Bowser said, climbing up the steps.

Chapter 7: The Final Chapter

Bowser had an extreme difficulty telling his kids that Iggy died. Neither of them took it very well (particularly Morton) as each was sobbing uncontrollably. Bowser wanted to sob with them, but he didn’t want to embarrass himself in front of Peach. Peach was quite shocked and got a little teary-eyed too, which made Bowser felt more safe to cry.

After another night of Bowser looking into Iggy’s diary, Bowser decided it was time to go home. Morton decided to go to his own castle, and Bowser hugged his son goodbye. Wendy left a while later because her boss said she had an urgent mission to do. Bowser knew he would see her again though.

Then, Bowser, Peach, and Mario walked all the way to the Mushroom Kingdom, where Mario had wanted to do his talking with Bowser.

“There’s still only one problem, though,” Bowser said.

“What’s that?” Peach asked.

“I have no home to go to. I have no troops to serve me. I have no merchants or villagers to tax,” Bowser said, now seeing that nothing had been solved.

“Hmm… A thorny situation… A thorny situation indeed,” Mario said.

Suddenly, he had that look, that look that means that suddenly you had a brilliant idea inside his mind.

“Peach… Those Mushrooms… How much did we sell?” Mario said.

“Oh yes, of course! Those Mushrooms are off the hook now-adays! Everyone wants them,” Peach replied.

“Then it’s settled!” Mario said.

“Instead of expanding our castle with the money we made with the Mushrooms, we would be glad to fix up yours and buy you some servants.” Mario said.

“You don’t have to do that… really,” Bowser said.

“Trust me, I do,” he said, smiling.

“Well… thanks,” Bowser said as he smiled back.

Then Mario came up to that same speech board thing that he had gone to before. Everyone knew he had something important to say because they saw Bowser, so everyone started to huddle up.

“You see this Koopa here? This Koopa has been accused of so many crimes that even I can’t count enough of them. But he, my friends, had given up his ways of evil and decided to join the forces of good. He is now our friend, everyone! Give a round of applause!”

And suddenly, Bowser felt a sling of excitement, he knew this because everyone was cheering for him now. And not just because he'd forced them to, they were cheering him om because they liked him now. They accepted him. They appreciated him. This excitement was too much for him. So, as only a Koopa King would do, he put his fist in the air and roared as loud as he could. But the crowd didn’t mind, they seemed to understand that feeling. And Bowser knew that no other person could change his mind about being evil ever again.

Epilogue

Bowser went back to his new castle. It no longer looked so evil, but he still wanted to keep the family tradition, so he kept the scary looking touches. Bowser never touched Mushroom Kingdom again. Well, not for evil purposes, anyway. Peach seemed to have a fondness for Bowser, as she always invites him over for tea. Eevery time Peach was kidnapped by someone else, Bowser would proudly help out his new bud. He soon realized that he enjoyed raising kids, so he decided to adopt as many as he can (not more than five at a time, though) and raise them up to be just like him so that someday one of us could rule Dark Land.

Peach got kidnapped, and Bowser wasn’t at his castle at the time… but that’s another story.
