Duplighost is mainly responsible for starting the trend of shapeshifting throughout the Mario Universe.  There was a Glum Reaper or something who took the guise of Mario in Super Mario RPG, but basically, Paper Mario is where it started becoming prevalent, and this is the guy who did it.  Outside of battle, his shapeshifting capabilities were... not already so excellent, but in battle Duplighost was seen to be able to successfully take the form of any of Mario's partners.  While his shapeshifting ability is impressive, Duplighost can also be made into one of the easiest enemies in the game: just have Bow (whose attack does one damage multiple times) as the active partner, and wear the Defense Plus badge - you'll be immune!  Even so, Duplighost certainly made the Crystal Palace interesting.  He also impersonated Peach in Bowser's Castle in a bid to keep Mario from looking for the real thing.  Duplighost has not appeared outside Paper Mario, but Doopliss from The Thousand-Year Door is obviously one of its kind.

Duplighost entered Roy's Sports Hall in Season Eight and tried to copy the success of several other shapeshifters before it.  But he must have accidentally taken the form of a stepping stone, as Mr. L certainly used him like one.  Entering the Season Ten Tournament at rank 33, a strong show of support saw him to victory over the ever-so-slightly-higher-ranked Red Virus, making him the first to qualify for Round Two of the tournament.  But his next opponent will not be so easy!  For it is champion #1, Mack!  And however rusty Mack may have been since Season One, how about Duplighost?  He had the first fight of the lengthy Round One, and now the last fight of Round Two.  Can he dial it up to victory once again?
