Grodus is the mysterious leader of the almost as mysterious X-Nauts.  There's a lot you could ask about the X-Nauts in general but the questions about their leader just seem to keep coming.  Questions like, he's a robot, so who built him?  How did he become the leader of such a powerful organization?  Why does such a serious-seeming character have games on his personal computer?  Having heard about the dormant spirit of the Shadow Queen, power-hungry Grodus sought to revive her and use her power to take over the world - and he came amazingly close.  Though his plans seemed to be failing at the start, after Mario had collected all the Crystal Stars, Grodus (through Doopliss) was able to trick Mario into opening the Thousand-Year Door; then, despite Bowser landing on him, Grodus was able to deliver Peach to the foot of the Shadow Queen, bringing her back into the world.  But when Grodus tried to give orders to the Shadow Queen, it turned out the whole plan had been for nothing as the Shadow Queen simply blasted him away.  Left as just a robotic head, the ending of the game suggests that Grodus has given up his evil ways, but I don't know.  Evil ways die hard...

Evidently Grodus must have had a new body built because he was fully there in the flesh - er, metal, for Season Five of Roy's Sports Hall, where he was able to plow through Round Two only to be stopped by Super Blooper - ironic considering that you'd guess for Blooper to be weak to Grodus's lightning attacks.  Grodus also earned a couple wins in Season Eight but a five-way Round Two match left him out in the cold.  He rebooted himself for the Season Ten Tournament but his circuits were fried by Shadoo in the first round as Grodus was eliminated.
