Games: Super Mario Galaxy
 
So, I'm pretty sure this guy was once the biggest character to appear in any Mario game, at least until his brief reign was ended by Mecha Bowser, which appeared later on in Mario Galaxy.  This planet-sized robot with the especially long legs, which was Bowser Jr's first line of defense, looked rather intimidating, but in fact it was pretty easy to overcome: just run up its legs, dodge a few Bullet Bills, and lead one into the glass dome at the top of its head.  After one hit, Megaleg would reinforce itself and start shooting more Bullet Bills, but it wasn't too much of a hardship to lead a second Bill into the dome, and that was all it took for Mario to retrieve the Grand Star.
