This dangerous flower first seen in Mario 3 looks like a relative of the Piranha Plant, but unlike any Piranha Plant from the sidescroller games, some of these can actually move around a bit outside of pipes.  Not that much or that fast, mind you, but maybe just enough to interfere with Mario while they repeatedly bounce a spiked ball off their mouth.  Sometimes they'll bounce the ball higher than usual so Mario needs to time his jump over them carefully.  On a level plain they're easy enough to get by, but if a Ptooie has a height advantage you'd best take your time.
