More about the Shadow Queen...
Games: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

The Shadow Queen is an incredibly powerful force who apparently came close to destroying the world a thousand years ago, but was defeated by a band of four heroes who used her own Crystal Stars to defeat her and seal her away.  She remained influential beyond the grave as her old minions stayed loyal; thanks to the meddling of Shadow Sirens Beldam and Marilyn, the Shadow Queen was able to be summoned back into the body of Princess Peach.  But Mario was right on the scene and confronted her while she was still getting used to her new form.  This left the Shadow Queen vulnerable - not that she was any pushover!  She even acquired near-invincibility and started giving Mario a beatdown until she was weakened by the same Crystal Stars from a millenium prior.  Actually it wasn't even the Crystal Stars themselves so much as the - gag - love they were able to summon from the friends Mario had made.  The Shadow Queen still put up a tough fight, using disembodied hands to damage or even leech health from Mario.  She could cause nasty status effects and featured a very powerful blast attack she would charge up for.  Don't get too excited, though - she died again in the end.

Despite the fact she almost destroyed the world a thousand years ago, she wasn't really that difficult a final boss in Paper Mario 2.  If anyone found her too difficult to beat, it's probably because they went into battle the first time with the wrong strategy, then found redoing the fight to be too annoying as you must watch a long and sappy cut scene each time.  At any rate, the Shadow Queen is formidable, but she still has had a rough time in the Sports Hall!  She managed to eke out a winning record against some tough challengers and earned a spot as a wildcard contender for the Season Ten Tournament, but was no match for a powerfully driven Roy.
