Shady Koopa is a tough relative of the Dark Koopa that appears in the Glitz Pit of PM2.  They don't have the original's dizzy attack, but knock them on their backs and you're not going to have such an easy time as with any other Koopa, because not only will they still be able to attack, but the attack they use in this stance is more powerful than their normal one and will hit both Mario and his partner.
