More about Smithy...
Games: Super Mario RPG

Smithy is the final boss from Super Mario RPG.  Not a whole lot is known about him considering he is not seen until the final battle.  He is very adept at creating animate weapons, which he does simply by using his huge hammer to pound molten metal until it springs to life; and, having already filled his own world with these weapons, he seems bent on finding them homes in other worlds.  Apart from this he doesn't seem to be much of a leader, as even his own factory is managed by delagates.  His troops do seem to fear him, if only because he has a short temper and is apt to cause significant damage to life and property around him when upset.

For some reason, Smithy was first seen in a false form that may have likened to Santa.  Who was he expecting to drop in, anyway?  In this form he mainly relies on using his hammer and the fact that the heroes are standing under some kind of giant sledge; he'll also create minions to help him with the help of the metal-spewing Smelter.  When he takes too much damage in this form, he's switch back to his real form, if only briefly, because in this form he mainly keeps switching to different heads to use, such as the attack-oriented cannon head, magic-oriented witch head, and wild card ? Block head.  The base of his body, wielding a hammer and a spritz gun, also is able to attack throughout the battle although it can be stunned temporarily.  The main target is the heads' 8,000 or so HP and Smithy will blow up when this is drained.  But somehow he doesn't kill the heroes when doing so!  Oh well...

Without a victory to his name, Smithy was a surprise selection as a wildcard contender for the Season Ten Tournament, having been picked as a strong character who hadn't been given much chance before, but could be a threat, which would make for a good story.  Smithy put on a good showing and almost put himself in position to advance into Round One and face off against his own lieutenant, Mack, but in the end he was defeated by another subordinate, Glum Reaper.  On the bright side, if I follow through with vague plans to limit the fighter roster for Season Eleven to those who have never won - Smithy is still eligible!
