The Greedy Koopalings

By Max Jones

Larry Koopa was walking along in the Koopa Kingdom when he saw Mario and Luigi.

"Hey!" shouted Larry as he started chasing the Mario Brothers. The Mario Brothers did not run. They started chasing Larry.

"Somebody help!" called Larry as he ran. His call was heard by Lemmy and Iggy.

"That Roy will never learn," said Lemmy as he started running to where he thought the scream was coming from. Iggy followed. Lemmy and Iggy gasped when they saw that the Mario Brothers were chasing Larry. Lemmy and Iggy started shooting beams from their wands at the Mario Brothers. The Mario Brothers started running at Lemmy and Iggy. Lemmy and Iggy started running at the Mario Brothers. Mario punched Lemmy in the face and Luigi punched Iggy. Lemmy and Iggy fell to the ground, dropping their wands. The Marios took the wands and started beating Lemmy and Iggy with them. Soon Lemmy and Iggy were unconscious.

Morton ran out just in time to see Lemmy and Iggy fall into the Cheep Cheep lake. Ludwig and Roy came outside to fight the Mario Brothers. Ludwig and Roy started shooting beams just like Lemmy and Iggy. Luigi was shot by a beam from Roy, and he was launched back to the Mushroom Kingdom. Ludwig used the same beam in his wand on Mario, sending Mario back to his kingdom as well. Morton and Wendy ran outside too.

"What are you two doing here, the problem's solved," said Roy.

"No it's not, Lemmy and Iggy are unconscious in the Cheep Cheep lake," said Morton.

"Let's get them, Morton," said Wendy.

"I can't swim!" Before Morton could finish Roy grabbed him and threw him into the water. Wendy jumped into the water and started searching for Lemmy and Iggy. Morton slowly sunk to the bottom of the lake. He hit the bottom and noticed something wooden in the ground. Morton, while still holding his breath, brushed all of the sand off of the wooden thing. When he was done, he saw that he had discovered a treasure chest. Morton tried opening it, but he couldn't. Then he looked above him to see Wendy swimming to land with Lemmy and Iggy in her arms.

Wendy threw them on land and noticed Morton was gone. Morton realized that he was running out of breath. Morton started screaming but nothing came out but bubbles. Wendy saw the bubbles in the water. She knew it was Morton. So Wendy jumped in to see Morton screaming and flapping his arms at the bottom of the lake. Wendy swam down to him and noticed the treasure chest. Wendy grabbed the treasure chest and swam to land. She threw it on shore and swam down to get Morton. Wendy grabbed Morton and threw him on land too.

Lemmy and Iggy woke up. Iggy coughed and a fish came out of his mouth.

"Gross," said Larry.

"Thanks Wendy," said Lemmy.

"Yeah, thanks," said Iggy as he coughed out another fish.

"Where'd you find a treasure chest?" asked Roy.

"Excuse me, but I found it, so I believe that I should get what's inside of it," said Morton.

"Yeah, but I brought it up to land so I should get what's inside of it," said Wendy.

"First let's see what's inside of it," said Lemmy as he froze the lock. Roy punched the frozen lock. The lock smashed and Roy opened the treasure chest. There were sparkling gold coins and jewelry.

"Wow!" shouted Larry.

"Wait a minute, if me and Lemmy weren't thrown into the lake, then no one would've gone into the lake and found it, therefore me and Lemmy should get all of this," said Iggy.

"Well, if I hadn't seen Mario and Luigi, then they would never have thrown you in, so I should get it," said Larry.

"No, no, no, I fought off Mario and if I hadn't, he wouldn't have allowed Wendy and Morton to go in the water, so I should get it," said Ludwig.

"Well, I fought off Luigi," said Roy.

"So what? Mario is harder to beat than Luigi," said Ludwig.

"But Luigi is taller, skinnier, and can jump higher," said Roy.

"Yeah, but Mario is fatter, smarter, tougher, and more of a hero then Luigi," said Ludwig.

"Well, I opened the chest and got rid of Luigi so I should get it," said Roy.

"I could have opened the chest. And I could have defeated Luigi," said Ludwig.

"You have it all wrong, I should get what's inside of it because I found it; my failure to swim caused me to sink and find it," said Morton.

"Yeah, but you can't swim because I never taught you," said Wendy.

"Well, I found the Marios!" shouted Larry.

"Well, I defeated them!" shouted Ludwig.

All of the Koopalings started fiercely bickering. Then Bowser came out of the castle.

"What's all the shouting about?!" shouted Bowser. All of the Koopalings stood in front of the treasure chest, not allowing Bowser to see it, because if Bowser saw it he would take it. "I already saw the treasure chest, and I'm not going to take it, but I want you to know that there is no way you are going to be able to argue your way into having it. Even if someone doesn't deserve it, they still will make up stupid excuses," said Bowser.

"What are we supposed to do, throw it back into the lake?" asked Lemmy.

"No, how about this, everyone will vote for who gets it," said Bowser.

"But everyone will vote for themselves," said Morton.

"Then we don't let them vote for themselves, all of you get to vote as much as you want only you can't vote for yourself. Now let's start. Who thinks Ludwig should get the treasure?"

"I do," said Larry. All of the other Koopalings glared at Larry. Ludwig looked at him happily and with pride and respect.

"Who thinks Lemmy should get it?" said Bowser.

"I do," said Larry and Iggy. Iggy said it because he knew that Lemmy would buy a new game system with the money and Lemmy would let him play with it.

"Who thinks Roy should get it?" said Bowser.

"I do," said Larry. Roy looked at Larry the same way that Ludwig had.

"Who thinks Iggy should get it?" asked Bowser.

"I do," said Lemmy and Larry. Lemmy voted for Iggy the same reason as Iggy voted for him.

"Who thinks Wendy should get it?" asked Bowser.

"I do," said Larry and Morton. Morton was just happy that Wendy saved his life.

"Who thinks that Morton should get it?" said Bowser.

"I do," said Larry.

"Now who thinks that Larry should get it?" said Bowser.

All of the Koopalings remembered the Larry voted for them. "I do," said all of the Koopalings besides Larry.

"Looks like Larry gets it," said Bowser.

"Yahoo! I got it! I got the treasure! My trick worked perfectly, all of you dopes fell for it!" shouted Larry as he danced.

"Get Larry!" shouted Roy. All of the Koopalings started chasing after Larry. Larry let out an unmanly scream and started running away. Bowser sighed and went back into the castle. While Larry was running he noticed Mario and Luigi going to the treasure.

"Mario and Luigi are stealing the treasure!" shouted Larry. All of the Koopalings including Larry started running at the Marios. The Mario Brothers turned around, then turned back to the treasure.

"Hey, why aren't they attacking us?" asked Iggy while running. All of the Koopalings stopped when they got to Mario and Luigi.

"Look who it is, Mario!" shouted Luigi happily.

"All seven of you are heroes," said Mario.

"Why are we heroes?" asked Lemmy.

"Because you found the money that will buy back the Mushroom Kingdom's orphanage," lied Luigi.

"Oh," said Larry.

"Thank you all so much," said Mario as he shook every Koopaling's hand. Then the Mario Brothers walked away with the treasure. The Koopalings stood with their mouths hanging open as they watched Mario and Luigi walk away with their treasure. Then Mario and Luigi bought back the Mushroom Kingdom orphanage and everyone lived happily ever after.

Actually that isn't what happened.

The Koopalings wouldn't let their treasure be taken away without a fight. "They stole our treasure!" shouted Larry.

"Get 'em!" shouted Roy. All of the Koopa Kids started running at Mario and Luigi.

"Do you think we could fight them off?" asked Luigi.

"No, now run, you carry the treasure chest!" shouted Mario as he started running away. Luigi grabbed the treasure chest and ran behind Mario. Ludwig shot Luigi in the back, making him fall over. Luigi let go of the treasure chest and it flew into Mario. Mario fell to the ground when the treasure chest smashed into him. All of the jewels and gold fell out of the treasure chest and into the water. The Koopalings and Mario Brothers stared with big wet eyes as the gold and jewels poured into the water.

"This is all your fault, Ludwig!" shouted Wendy. Then everyone started arguing again, including Mario and Luigi.

At the bottom of the lake, a large Cheep Cheep saw the gold and jewels. The Cheep Cheep swam over and started eating them.

"Wait a minute," said Lemmy in the middle of the argument. All of them stopped arguing and looked at Lemmy. "Why are we arguing about gold that is at the bottom of the lake? Let's go get it. Then we argue over who gets it," said Lemmy.

"I'll go check," said Mario.

"We can't trust you, let me do it!" shouted Roy.

"Let me do it, because if I do steal the jewels or coins, then everyone will know because I'll have a new game system," said Iggy.

"Okay, let's let Iggy do it," said Mario.

"Yeah, I can trust Iggy," said Larry. Everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

Iggy dove into the water. He swam to the bottom to see the Cheep Cheep eat the last coin. Iggy screamed. The Koopalings and Mario Brothers saw the bubbles.

"Do you think Iggy's drowning?" asked Luigi.

"No, not yet," said Lemmy calmly.

Iggy's head shot out of the water gasping for air. "Where are the coins?" asked Ludwig.

"A giant Cheep Cheep ate every last coin and jewel," said Iggy as he got out of the water.

"Great, all that arguing lost us the treasure!" shouted Mario.

"How do we know Iggy doesn't have it?" said Roy as his head slowly turned toward Iggy.

"I don't have it! Even search me," said Iggy. They did just that. Then they all walked sadly to their rooms when they realized that the treasure was gone forever.

This story, unlike any other story I've written, has a lesson. Arguing will lose you all your treasure.
