Melodies Forever

By Teela Yoshi

"Uh... alrighty..." Kamek turned and went through the door. Sure enough, it vanished. He looked behind him, across from the door he had just come from, and noticed a reddish door. It was labeled "Memories". Kamek walked over to it cautiously, and placed a paw on it. The minute he turned it, a blast of red energy threw him back. He picked up his hat, rubbing his head painfully. "Ouch..." He then looked to the large door. It was red as well. Kamek looked down the hall. All the doors were red, except the one Teela had been in previously, though that door was gone.

Kamek looked up to the huge door with the three locks and thought. He wondered, what could have unlocked them? And why? No one could be in Teela's mind, except Teela, she controlled it all. But why was she in her own mind, so confused? Where had her memories gone, or at least, why hadn't she recognized them? Kamek was only falling into more questions, still no answers...

The whole reason, Kamek thought, he had been here, was to find Teela, and question her about her powers. But seeing as she hardly knew real fantasy from real reality, she was no help. He looked to the door he had tried to open, wanting to open it so badly. It had no lock, but it seemed locked on the inside. He thought, Teela has great power; apparently, her mind is odd... Maybe she can open these doors?

Kamek walked back to where Teela's door had originally been. He began to beat on the wall, yelling.
"TEELA?! WAKE UP!!! TEELA!!! TEELA!!! I NEED YOU!!!" No reply... where was she? Why wouldn't... Where had the door gone? She had made it disappear for a reason... but why?

"Leave her alone." An older version of Teela appeared, eyes wide open. A younger version appeared as well, hiding behind the older one.

"Who are you?"

"Why? We're memories and thoughts," the older one replied, rolling her eyes.

"Yep," the younger one agreed as Kamek looked them over.

"What are you doing back here? In her mind?"

"We're different sides of her, doofus," the older one snapped as Kamek stared. "Why do you ask so many questions?"

"Is this why she can't seem to think straight?"

"Why?" the older one asked again as Kamek rolled his eyes.

"BECAUSE IN REALITY, SHE'S A WRECK! WHY ARE THOSE TWO LOCKS ON HER DOOR A WRECK?! THEY LOOK LIKE THEY'VE BEEN SMASHED!!! NONE OF THIS IS NORMAL!!! AND I'M JUST TRYING TO HELP, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! SHE'S GOING TO DIE, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! GAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!" Kamek yelled as a door appeared, Teela walking out of it tiresomely, once again still with the paddleball.

"Hey, what's going on around here? A party without me?" Teela laughed as the two stared in awe. "Who are they?" Teela asked as Kamek looked awkwardly from the youngest one, to the oldest one, to the real one...

"..." The eldest Teela looked at the "real" one as Kamek looked around at all three of them once more. Was this another trap? Was Kamek not in Teela's mind? He had to have been... But what was this? Where were Teela's memories, why was she not even recollecting any of this, and what was going on now? Kamek grunted in frustration, knowing full well he knew nothing of any of this, and he had no idea what was going on. His head hurt so horribly, his confusion bleeding from the look on his face.

" Kamek, who are they?" the real Teela persisted once more as Kamek looked to the other two.

"What do you mean who are we?" the youngest asked a bit rudely as Kamek growled. He was getting fed up with this; was this some kind of joke?

"Teela?" The other two twitched, looking at Kamek as the real one smiled gently.

"Yeah?"

"Can I talk to you? Without your friends?"

"Friends? Kamek, I know not of those people."

"They look just like you. They were the ones I fought to get here, Teela! The ones I fought here to come and see you! Can I just sit down and talk to you? Tell you what's going on?" Kamek was going to try to approach this another way, not force any of this upon her. This was her Reality, what she made of it, though really it was fantasy! And she considered what really was happening fantasy! Her memories were apparently lost here somewhere, gone; and her personalities, if that's what these really were, were scattered. The locks on her soul door were completely destroyed, two out of three. Most people had two... Kamek wondered...

" Ok... uh... You two people..." Teela looked to the figures that she didn't seem to notice looked like her," stay... er... right here..... I'm sorry to be rude, but... wait here, please?"

"Ok," the small one replied as the older one nodded. Teela shrugged, looking strangely at them as she then walked a little ways away from them, to the end of the hallway. Surprisingly, there was a door at this end as well, though there were no locks on this one. Kamek looked it over curiously, though shrugged it off. Nothing was normal here... He figured everything was screwed up.

"Teela," Kamek began as Teela looked up at him at the sound of her name. He stared, looking over her head over at the other two as they stood looking at one another, not even talking amongst themselves. "I'm here to tell you... what is fantasy and what is reality... What you see it as... is not the truth-"

"But Kamek-"

"No, Teela. Listen. This is not reality. You need to wake up- you are dying, Teela. Something is wrong with you... I think it's caused by your powers. Teela, this is fantasy, well... I mean, your mind, and your imagination. Your mind is what you think and where all your memories are supposed to be... and your own little space... and your imagination, well, according to your mind, it's a trap, but apparently it's very strong for you to be able to visualize items and even people! The voice effects are even amazing! But Teela, you, there is something wrong with. Those other two, Teela, young Teela, they... there is something wrong with them as well. They shouldn't be here- only you. It was fine they were out there, but here? That's not right, Teela- only you can be here."

"Kamek-"

"Teela, just please, can you just believe me, can you just help me?" Kamek seemed to be pleading with her, seemed to be begging for her assistance.

"I... think I may have made them, Kamek. I think... I was dreaming about those two... and you too! You had been fighting them and-"

"Teela... You saw truth. That was no dream! You saw what happened! You... read my mind.... basically..."

"I can make 'em go away, Kamek, I can! I'll help you; do you want them away?" Teela seemed eager to please, though Kamek wasn't even sure she was correct. It couldn't do any harm... or it could... He was now one hundred percent sure he wasn't sure of anything...

"Sure..." And with that, Teela nodded, looking at the paddleball as she almost seemed relentless to do anything.

The two figures seemed almost frightened as Teela walked towards them. Kamek stood back, watching what Teela was going to do, hoping she knew what she was doing at all! Teela held the paddleball up as it slowed, the older Teela staring at Teela wide-eyed. The ball of the paddle slowed, like time was slowed once more, colliding with the older Teela's neck as it ripped through it sheerly. The older figure seemed to be screaming, but nothing was heard. The younger one shook with fear as Teela did the same thing, though this time the ball of the paddle sliced right through the younger one's head. There was no blood;,just more or less shadows. They disappeared as soon as Teela was done. Kamek noticed she wasn't smiling afterwards.

"That... was hard." She wasn't being sarcastic.

" Why so?" Kamek asked, not really comprehending how it would be.

"They were so innocent. If they were dreams, they deserved to live."

"Teela, you made them, you can destroy them."

"But... they were so innocent, not harming anyone."

"That's not the point...."

"Yeah. What else do you need me to do?" Kamek looked around at all the doors.

"You see all these doors?"

"Yes. They're hard not to notice, Kamek. What are you getting at?"

"Teela... they shouldn't be locked to you. Can you get in?"

"No. Kamek, I've tried. It hurts me too much! But those locks... I know for sure that if the last one is destroyed, the doors will open."

"How do you know this?"

"They got weaker when the first two were destroyed."

"You did that?"

"No."

"Then who did?"

"I don't know. I just- here. Watch." Teela then held up a screen as she shut her eyes, concentrating as Kamek watched the screen flicker to life. Teela was controlling this one...

It was sort of blurry, but pretty clear in the middle. There was a clear picture of Teela sleeping in the beginning, but the "camera" sped up, right into her head. It showed flashes of the hallways shimmering quickly, the locks pretty... locked in the beginning, where the red glow was sort of all around the hallway, and then as it passed by quickly, the two locks cracked for no reason, seemingly, and then the red glow shrunk to each door. Then the camera backed out to Teela waking up abruptly, her door locked as she struggled to open it. The next part was where Kamek grew confused.... Teela suddenly just placed a hand on the door and it opened.

"Teela, how did you see this?"

"I was sleeping, I woke up, it had happened..." And now Kamek thought, either she had caused the locking system, or she saw what had happened and it was like a warning.

Kamek leaned against the wall, putting his head in his claws as he slid down the wall, sitting against it now. He sighed, his head pounding furiously as Teela looked at him oddly. She began to play with the paddleball again as she bounced it up and down. Kamek watched her, not really growing annoyed, but quite intrigued by how she carried it around constantly, and the power it seemed to have.

"You made that up?" Kamek thought he had asked her that already... but oh well.

"Yeah. Neat, huh?"

"Yeah. What else does it do?" Kamek asked as Teela smiled.

"Watch." She sort of held it in her hands as it grew, becoming the size of a giant club with spikes, then shrinking down a little bit, to the size of an axe, and then to a very small dagger. Kamek watched mysteriously as Teela closed her eyes, apparently concentrating, the dagger turning into a small green glass vase as she set it down, the patterns suddenly being engraved into it by seemingly a million invisibles knives. Teela was trying her hardest to concentrate on it, all the patterns becoming deeper as she suddenly stopped, breathing deeper. "Cool, right?"

"And you just keep imagining that?" Kamek asked, surprised, as Teela shrugged.

"I don't know. I just know I can do it!" She laughed, breathing deeply still, though she kneeled down, placing a paw on the vase as it began to mold back into the simple shape of the paddleball. She held it up, making the ball slow as she suddenly pulled a block of wood out of seemingly nowhere. It sliced through it quickly as she brought the paddleball back towards her, down at her side. The string suddenly extended as she made the paddle bigger, making it its reasonable size once more.

"You think about it, and you can?" Kamek asked as Teela nodded.

"Basically, I guess."

"Just like you brought me here?" Kamek thought for a few moments, putting the pieces together. "Teela?"

"Yes, Kamek?" She said his name a little like a schoolteacher would, like they were bigger than you and you could depend on them.

"You know how you brought me here? And how you can think and the paddleball works?"

"Yeah? You have a conclusion on something?"

"Indeed, young Teela, indeed." He smiled as she looked confusedly at him, though she still listened intently. "Do you think you can think up a lock?"

"I don't see what good it will do us, but sure." Teela clapped her hands, and like a magician, when her hands grew apart once more, a lock was in her right hand. Kamek was, by now, getting used to these tricks and such. He knew Teela wasn't trying to show off, but she sure was doing a good job of it, and not to mention impressing him. Surely, all of this was quite different. If only she knew how to use all of this, she would be very powerful indeed.

"That's a start. Now make it disappear," Kamek ordered as Teela threw it up and it vanished.

"There. Anything else? This is kind of boring, Kamek..."

"Patience. Now go to that door." Kamek pointed to the once nearest to them, the one beside the door with the locks, labeled "Memories". Teela did as she was asked and stood dreadfully near the door. "Place your hands upon it, and think about it not even being there."

"I've got a better idea." Teela smiled as she placed her hands on it, the door instantly flaring with red energy. Except, it didn't throw Teela back; it couldn't. Her body went transparent instantly, her eyes closed, a red energy of her own glowing as she placed her hands on the door, the door starting to go transparent as well. She placed her left hand away from the door, outside the red barrier, Kamek already knowing what she was symbolizing. He scurried, grabbing her hand as he found himself transparent and suddenly being pulled right through the door before he could even think about it.

The surrounding area was dark as Kamek looked around. Teela stood close to him as she clung onto her paddleball.

"Kamek, I don't like it here... It's too dark... I feel weird."

"Teela, we must know what's here. This place is rightfully yours, remember?"

"Yes, Kamek, yes. It's, as you say, mine," Teela reminded herself quickly, though it still didn't seem to calm her fears. Her paddleball shifted quickly into a sort of large flashlight with a blade on it.

"Another magnificent creation..." Kamek somewhat complimented as Teela shrugged. A cold wind suddenly passed over them as Teela shivered, clutching the flashlight blade even closer to her body now. She seemed weak... Kamek looked around, straining his eyes to see, but had trouble. Teela pulled the flashlight away from herself as she cleared the darkness. Shadows stirred quickly as Kamek watched a shadowy figure fly up beneath him like a bat, but swirl around in colors like a tidal wave in a shape of a spiral. It began to sort of play through, though parts of it were ruined.

The shadows stirred as ripped images, blurry in a way, began to form themselves upon one another. Images of Teela and Venoma talking, Teela striking with her sword, images of a foggy and blurry night, images of Kamek as a doctor, images of Kamek's strange smile, images of Teela cringing at the sight of Kamek... Thousands of things at once began to struggle and almost fight even to fly up and reveal something...

"Kamek... What is this?"

"Teela, these are your memories. This is no dream. What you were seeing... must have been a few of these that had escaped this little room here." Kamek watched as soon, the entire room was filled with many screens of many different times of Teela's life. He pointed to one in particular that showed Teela looking at Kamek, the vision blurry, as it began to fade. He also pointed to one that showed himself and Teela talking in the shadows of her own mind.

Teela nodded, finally coming to a conclusion...
