Ludwig's Perfect Day

Ludwig von Koopa awoke one morning, yawning as he rubbed his eyes. He looked around his room, and saw his regular, white laboratory with all his inventions in their usual places. He put his hand on his nightstand, but something was there. "What's this?"

He looked over to see what it was, and saw a mound of chocolate! He drooled at the pile of bars, but his saliva seeped onto a yellow piece of paper. The Koopa Prince picked the sticky note up with a tired looking face, and it said: To Ludwig, From your brothers and sister, Susan, Nick, and Karma.

"This is pretty odd... It's not my birthday, nor have I accomplished anything they care about."

"LUDWIG! GET DOWN HERE!" It was Bowser, and he sounded pretty steamed. Ludwig knew the chocolate was too good to be true. There must have been something he did wrong.

Ludwig walked downstairs. Bowser and Clawdia stood at the foot of the stairs, their arms crossed. "Ludwig, how unprepared can you be?" Bowser made him confused. What had he missed?

"Now now, Bowser, easy on the boy. He usually does this, rushing into things, not ready."

Clawdia made him feel guilt-ridden for something he didn't even understand. Ludwig thought to himself, moms must have that talent.

"What did I do?" asked the prince.

"WHAT DID YOU DO? THIS WAS PROBABLY THE DUMBEST THING YOU'VE EVER DONE, AND
YOU'VE FORGOTTEN ALREADY?"

Bowser rambled on about Ludwig's incompetence, but Ludwig pressed on, asking what he’d done. Iggy, Larry, Morton, Roy, Susan, and Nick watched from behind the living room couch. Wendy, Lemmy, and Karma were still in bed, but probably were awakened by Ludwig's lecture. Bowser told him one last time about how stupid he was, and then Clawdia backhanded her husband for calling their first born dimwitted. Clawdia "reminded" Ludwig what he had done.

"Yesterday, your brothers and Wendy told us-" She bit her lip, then continued. "-that you asked out Karma, and-"

"WHAT? But I-"

"Don't interrupt your mother!"

"I swear to DAD I didn't ask her!"

"Well," Clawdia continued, "you didn't have a steady ring... So-" Ludwig's mother burst into tears. "We bought you one! *sob*" She handed Ludwig a ruby ring that was as big as his fist!

"Um... Thanks?" Ludwig looked dumbfounded at his father, but Bowser hurried
him upstairs.

"She ain't gonna be asleep now that I screamed!" Bowser shoved him into Karma's room, where she stretched, awaking from her slumber. She noticed Ludwig was in her room, and she smiled.

"Hey, hot stuff. What you doing here?" Ludwig was completely lost for words. Hot stuff? Normally she called him poofball, or Ludey, but that was a new one!

"Um... Hey Karma..." He was still lost for words.

His Met got up, and walked up to him.  "...Are you gonna say something?" Karma looked confused.

"Wanna go out t'night?"

"Are you serious?" Karma now was acting very different. Normally, she would've socked him by now. But, to Ludwig's awe, she was smiling. A REAL smile, not a sarcastic one. And she grabbed Ludwig's hands, holding them very gently. Ludwig, in his head, asked himself, "Am I serious? 'Cause this seems kinda funny..." But, he said yes. The YoshiKoopa said yes without a moment's thought. He felt the ring in his hand, saying to himself, "Am I going to ask her to be my girlfriend tonight?"

Karma went in the hall with him, and he saw the door to his room was open. Karma went inside his room, and Ludwig was pulled in with her. They dined on the chocolates he’d received earlier, and talked about where the date would be. Ludwig was enjoying the new Karma, and the new name Hot Stuff. Ludwig and Karma happily talked about things couples would talk about over the chocolates, when Roy burst in on them.

"Hey! Brainiac! Yo takin’ dat hybrid chick out on a date?

"Who wants to know, maybe I did? Or I might have not!"

"I tink yo did, Cassanova! Wadaya, getting’ married or summtin?"

"I assure you, our marriage has already been set up by Mom, or something along those lines." Ludwig shot fire at Roy to get him out of the room. Karma and Ludwig continued doing what they were doing, like Roy had never come in his room.

Later that day, Ludwig was watching TV with Nick in the living room, eating the remainder of the chocolate. Iggy went up to him and asked him the strangest thing.

"What can I do for you?"

Ludwig's jaw dropped out of pure amazement. Why would Iggy ask to do something for Ludwig? Seizing the opportunity to boss his annoying sibling around, he told him to get him more chocolate. "Sure, whatever." Iggy did as he was told.

TV was getting boring, so Nick shut it off. Ludwig got Iggy again. "Iggy, get me Karma, Susan, Lemmy, Larry, and Wendy. But whatever you do, do NOT get Morton."

"Sure, whatever you say. I ain't doing anything better."

As Ludwig commanded, he was brought Karma, Larry, Wendy, Lemmy, and Susan. Not Morton. Ludwig and Nick were gonna have fun today. But, something troubled Ludwig about his cousin today. He hadn't beaten Iggy at all today, and neither had Roy. But, Roy was just annoying. Nick was too quiet. He had only said a few things, like "I'm gonna eat," or "I'm gonna go to the bathroom." He shrugged, and looked back at what Iggy had brought him. Things were now gonna get interesting.

The prince had a different thing for each of the people brought to him.
Karma was just asked to hang around with him and Nick, but the others were a
different story. Ludwig and his date laughed hysterically at what Ludwig had
done to the remaining Koopas.

Lemmy gave Ludwig his ball for a footrest, and
Ludwig told him to use Wendy as a replacement ball. Lemmy quarreled, "Won't I
stub my feet on her spikes?" Ludwig told him not to argue, and Lemmy just
sighed, as he rolled around on Wendy, continuously stubbing each toe.

Larry was told to wrestle with Susan, but he said, "She'll just kiss me to death!"

"That's the point, my sneaky sibling," Ludwig spat. So, the two wrestled, and Susan won, over, and over, and over again. Nick finally started to laugh, and keeled over, his side hurting.

Ludwig had one request left. He called Iggy. "Ignatious, could you get Morton?" It was time to put today to the ultimate test. If this worked, it was truly heaven on Plit.

Morton came down with Iggy, and Ludwig asked him one simple thing. "How are you, Morton?"

"I'm fine. Thanks for asking."

This was truly the paradise. Morton talked like a normal Koopa. After a while, Roy got everyone and ushered them out (except for Karma, of course), as one of Ludwig's requests from Iggy. Karma and Ludwig nestled together, and they fell asleep, her head on his shoulder.

He awoke, to see it was around six o'clock PM... "Oh my DAD! I missed the date! He panicked, but looked over to see Karma, still asleep on his shoulder. He woke her, and she gently nuzzled him with her nose. Her eyes opened, and Ludwig said, "It's time to leave... for our date."

She smiled and got up. "I'm gonna go get ready, ok? I'll be right down." She left him, and Ludwig lay on the couch, love struck. Everything had gone perfect today. He’d ate his favorite food, bossed his sibilings around, not been badgered by Morton, and now had a date. What was today's date? He had to record this for future generations. He looked at the calendar, took out a pad of paper, described the day, and put the date down.

He heard footsteps come down the stairs, and Karma came down, looking beautiful in a red dress and her hair down. Ludwig's eyes were fixed on her, staring, unblinking, not moving... Ugh, his thoughts started to sound like the old Morton. He ran up to his hybrid date, and complemented her looks. "I can't go looking this scraggily with an angel as beautiful as you. I'm gonna go change."

She blushed. "I'll wait for you in the doomship. I don't worry about what you wear, you always look handsome to me."

As Ludwig rushed up the stairs, he thought to himself, "I swear to DAD I must have died and gone to heaven." He went through his wardrobe, and found a suit that made him look pretty good. He ran to the doomship, put the key in the ignition, and the two drove off.

Clawdia, while embracing Bowser, was looking through the bedroom window, sobbing. "My son's very first date!"

Ludwig parked at a restaurant called The Koop De Grace. He escorted Karma inside, and they were seated at a table immediately. "What zu vou two vant tonight?"

"I think I'll have some cheese alfredo. What about you, Karma?"

"That sounds good... I'll have what Ludwig's having!"

Ludwig whispered to the waiter, "Make it one bowl, and there’s a nice tip waiting for you at the end." The waiter nodded, and walked off. Ludwig then asked Karma what was up.

"Oh, just t'night. I mean, we're destined to stay together. I can't get my mind off you!"

"Yeah, Meeting with you was the best thing that’s ever happened to me..." His voice trailed off, and the waiter came with one gigantic bowl of alfredo, two candles, a lighter, and a rose in a thin vase. The table was completely set, and the two dined.

After a delectable meal, Ludwig felt the ring in his coat pocket as he reached for his wallet. He jumped to a start, and got very nervous.

"Hey Karma... I... wanted to ask... you something... " She looked deeply into his eyes, and it just came out. "Will you be my girlfriend?" He shut his eyes, and his head lowered only so slightly, but it seemed to come out very smooth. Karma said yes very softly and Ludwig stuck the ring on her finger, and a small smile ensued. But that smile contained so much feeling, Ludwig could tell.

Ludwig flew Karma back to the Castle, and they went upstairs. Ludwig walked his new girlfriend to her room, and opened the door for her. She looked to the floor and smiled, and said, "You know... My life has been so horrible... But you brightened it up. Thanks, Ludwig." And a long kiss followed.

They parted, and Ludwig retreated to his room. It was the best day of his life. "Things continue like this, and my life will be golden." And with that, he fell asleep.

He awoke the next morning, and remembered what happened yesterday. He got up and danced around his lab, because everything had changed for the better! DAD had truly shined down on him!

He went downstairs, and saw Larry. He got ahold of his arms and started to
dance with his younger sibling. "What is wrong with you, you fat Koopa?"

"Oh Larry, I had the best day yesterday! You remember, don't you? You wrestled with Susan, and she kissed you to death! Oh, and Lemmy rode Wendy like one of his balls! I used his ball, of course, as a footrest. But, the most amazing things were that Iggy acted like my slave, and Morton stopped talk- Oh! Morton!" He ran over to Morton lifted him off the ground, and threw him up in the air. "How are you today?!" Morton, terrified, started to talk slowly.

"I am good, nice, happy, friendly, and would like to enjoy my tasty, delicious, lip wettening and dang good cereal, so could you if put me down right this second, now, instantly, quickly or I will tell King Dad on you without hesitation and you will cry as the dungeon will be your new home and I don't want that because you are my brother so I ask for your own safety will you refrain from throwing me up in the air like a basketball or one of Lemmy's rubber balls?

"... What? You talk a lot... But you didn't... You can't!" Ludwig was confused... Why was Morton acting annoying again? He threw his annoying sibling across the room, and he landed on the floor and skidded across the kitchen. Susan resumed attacking Larry, which was normal, but she started to act annoying again! She wasn't like that yesterday! Ludwig ran up the stairs back to his room, but bumped into Roy, Nick, and Iggy. Nick and Roy resumed beating Iggy, which concerned Ludwig more. He ran upstairs and saw Lemmy's feet had healed completely from riding Wendy. Speaking of Wendy, she walked out of her room just now, and smiled at Ludwig and then asked him, "How are ya?"

Ludwig thought he was going insane! He ran past Wendy and bolted into Karma's room. Karma awoke instantly, and gave Ludwig a sour look. "Hey poofball, why did ya go and wake me up? I'm serious, so answer me!" Ludwig ignored her and grabbed her hand, looking for the ruby he gave her. "WHAT IN DAD’S NAME ARE YA DOING, YOU STUPID KOOK?" Ludwig couldn't find the ring, and he burst into tears...

"What I saw was an illusion.... A mere image..."

"What are you rambling about?"

"... Nothing... Sorry I woke you..." Ludwig turned to leave, but Karma caught Ludwig's arm. "Ludwig... Seriously, what just happened?" Karma looked distressed, not just because he woke her up, but because he was her Met, and she cared about him.

"Nothing..." And Ludwig slipped through her grip.

Back in his room, Ludwig looked at the calendar. It said today's date, but in the dream, it said this date was the date. "It was all a lie..." As he collapsed onto the bed, someone entered the room. It was Karma, and she sat by Ludwig. Trying to comfort him she told him of a dream she had last night.

"You know, I had the strangest dream last night... I remember seeing you, and you asked me out-" She blushed at this. "-and you controlled your family like they were your slaves or something. But the most amazing thing happened... Morton stopped talking!" Ludwig's eyes widened, knowing she’d had the same dream he did, and then he slowly closed them.

"That definitely was a dream, Karma. Morton would never stop talking..."
