Phil: Teams made an unbelievable visit to Isle Delfino’s renowned volcano, Mount Corona. After a quick lift, which wasn’t very quick for some teams, teams repelled straight into the mouth of the volcano. While more powerful teams climbed the walls to chip away rocks, most teams went for the adrenaline rush by taking a submarine through the lava.

Phil: Some teams bickered… After using status-enhancing Mushrooms to actually swim through the lava, teams found a difficult task in wrestling a Pianta wrestler. Exhausted from the previous events, most teams fell behind. After putting on a brilliant show of moves, Mario and Luigi passed King Boo and Boo at the last moment. However, when they arrived they learned that this was a non-elimination leg. They have been stripped of all money and possessions. Now… seven teams remain. Who will be eliminated… next?
The title theme plays with no new X’s over anybody.
Phil (STILL sweating): THIS… is Mount Corona. As the pools of lava flow through it, it stands tall over all of Isle Delfino. After cooling down a bit, these rivers empty into this place, the Delfino Plaza Hot Springs. This was the sixth pitstop in a race around the MK. Teams arrived here for a mandatory rest period. Can King Boo and Boo, with no money or possessions, climb out of their last place predicament? Or, will Mario and Luigi… fall further behind…? Yoshi and Pink, who were the first to arrive at 1:00 AM, will depart… at 1:00 PM.

Phil: Teams must now make their way through the Plaza, and find the docks. They must then get on a boat and head to the famous Yoshi’s Tropical Island.

Phil: A famous vacation spot, this locale is actually three islands very close together. When teams land on the beach, they will receive their next clue.

Phil (walking along Palm Island beach): A Detour is a choice between two tasks, each with its own pros and cons. This Detour faces teams with common Palm Island activities. The choice: Comb it Over… or Carry it Over. In Comb it Over, teams make their way on foot to this pile of old, dead tree branches, which are routinely dragged across the entire length of the beach to clean it. Teams must drag six branches across the beach to receive their next clue. In Carry it Over, teams must cross the bridges back to Melon Island, and locate the Fruit Storage building. Then, loading up crates with fruit, they must carry it over until they have accumulated 500 pounds of fruit. Once the correct weight has been achieved, teams will receive their next clue.

Phil (standing on a blue, round tile): A Roadblock is a task that only one person may perform, and no person may perform more than six roadblocks on the entire Race. This is a special roadblock, a tribute to Mario’s first Party. One person must sign up for a game of Mario Party with four other team members. Then they will play, using the original Mario Party rules. Roll, move, play a minigame. After 20 turns, teams may then wait to be checked into the pitstop. The higher teams place, the sooner they’ll check in. However, whoever is last during the first game must wait and play with the remaining three team members. When teams are allowed, they may cross this bridge to reach this place: Whirl Island. This tiny island surrounded by raging whirlpools is the pitstop for this leg of the race. The last team to check in here… may be eliminated…
