Koopa Tennis

Go see the original story.

Through Ludwig’s smarts, the Koopas and Marios were able to figure out a complete tournament schedule.
They decided to play for a trophy that just so happened to be sitting around.

(Note: For my own convenience, I have changed the way people talk from quotes to colons. Not like you care, of course!)

Bowser: All right, we’ll play Koopas vs. Marios in the first round. We’re playing only one game each. And we’re using those power-up blocks too!

Those power-up blocks, in case you’ve never played the game, are transparent rainbow blocks that give items to a player to use if their ball goes through the block. Larry played Peach first.

Peach: This should be easy against a beginner!

Larry used Troopa shells to get Peach to run all over the court. And his speed boosted his chances of hitting the ball, so he eventually rattled Peach enough to gain a W-30 victory. (0 points is love, 1 point is 15, 2 points is 30, 3 points is 40, and 4 points is a Win or a Deuce, depending on whether the other player is at 40 points or not. A win is designated by a W.)

Peach: Cheater!

Morton was next, going up against Waluigi. Supposedly a mismatch, Waluigi was supposed to defeat Morton
easily. But with Morton shocking Waluigi with a Lightning Bolt a couple of times, the game went into a 40-all tie.

Morton: I’ll win, I’ll beat you, I’ll be victorious, i’ll...

Waluigi: Shut up!

Morton then was able to claim the next two points (in tennis you must win by two) to claim a W-40 victory!

Morton: I’ve won, I’ve...

Waluigi: Shut up again!

Wendy was up next, versus Birdo. She came away with a W-15 victory.

Wendy: I’ll win it all!

By the end of the first round, all the Koopa Kids were alive, but Boshi had been knocked out by Yoshi, Yoshiki had been knocked out by Daisy, and DK knocked out Plum. Susan and Karma also advanced, as well as Bowser and Mario.

Chapter Four: Divided They Fall

With the second round being Koopa vs. Koopa on the most part, the Koopas did start to have trouble,
against each other. Other minions started to jeer the Koopas when Larry lost to Ludwig, W-Love.

Tony (Sledge Brother): Hey, why you playing tennis?

Fiery (Fire Brother): Come on, only play if you know the sport!

Morton lost equally badly to Roy, W-Love, and the Koopa Kids yet to play had doubts about playing the rest out.

Iggy: Is it worth it?

Lemmy: I’d rather stay home than lose bad!

Wendy was able to squeak by Iggy, W-40, after the two of them went to many deuces (ties), because having to
win by two made it a long game.

Lemmy: Who am I playing?

Bowser: Karma.

Lemmy: She used every item to nail Luigi! I don’t feel like getting fried!

Bowser: Then go home!

Lemmy: I’ll stick it out now!

Lemmy then defeated Karma, but after a W-40 win in a long game, Lemmy looked too tired out to play any longer.

Bowser: Time for me to knock out Susan!

Susan pulled off a W-30 win over Bowser, but then pulled a muscle and couldn’t play anymore.

Bowser: What?!

Susan: No fair!

Daisy beat Mario and Yoshi beat Donkey Kong, setting up an exciting next round.

Chapter Five: Bye!

With only six players left, Ludwig’s idea was to have two have byes. Those two were the ones with the most
playing experience: Daisy and Yoshi. That meant that two Koopalings would have to be knocked out in this
third round.

Lemmy: I’ll take you out, Ludwig!

Ludwig: Let’s see you actually win!

But after both players hit every ball back and started a five-minute long rally for the first point, both Lemmy and Ludwig collapsed in exhaustion.

Angry Sun: You think you’ve worked a long time, losers? I work day after day, with no breaks!

Millenium Star: Ha ha ha! They both lose!

Lemmy: Not yet!

Ludwig got up and managed to serve the ball into the net on four occasions in a row.

Hammer: BOO!!!

Ludwig: I quit!

Lava Lotus: What a quitter!

Ptooie: I’m staying in Ice Land and never moving to a quitter’s home land!

Lemmy: I won?!

Bowser: Yes, you won. Now go!

Roy battled Wendy next. Roy got up to 40-Love when...

Chargin’ Chucks: Get him!

The Chargin’ Chucks tackle Roy.

Roy: I can’t escape from that scriptwriter even in someone else’s story! Who wrote that first story, anyway?

Wendy O. Koopa: I did!

Roy: It all makes sense now.

With Wendy and Lemmy advancing against Daisy and Yoshi to the semifinals, the rest of the Koopalings left and only Bowser stayed to see the rest.

Chapter Six: An Electrifying Ending

Certainly when Wendy got up 30-Love over Daisy, she started to get over joyful. When...

Daisy: That’s it for you!

Daisy hit the next three serves for aces and took a 40-30 lead.

Wendy: WAH!!!

Daisy: And this one does it!

The ball bounced next to Wendy, and Wendy whiffed at the ball, losing the game.

Wendy: NO!!!

Daisy: I won! I-

Suddenly a thunder cloud came in, and lightning struck a metal object. This electrified object was on a direct route for the tennis court!

Bowser: That’s it for today! Run for your lives!

But before the five could run, the metallic object spoke:

Metallic Object: Can you beat me, any of you?

Lemmy: Who are you?

Metallic Object: I am...

The skies cleared.

Metallic Object: Metal Mario!

Daisy: I knew it!

Metal Mario: But I’m ten times larger!

Metal Mario suddenly grew tenfold in size.

Metal Mario: Try to beat me, any of you!

All five tried to beat Metal Mario, but he stopped every shot, and even with five on the court at once, they
were unable to stop the Metallic One, who took a 40-Love lead.

Metal Mario: If you lose, I get the kingdom!

Bowser: Don’t mention kingdoms to me!

Wendy: Hey, maybe our other friends can help!

Lemmy: Huh?

Wendy: I’ll call them up!

All of a sudden...

Roy: Let’s beat him!

Ludwig: It’s great to be back!

Larry: We’re all here now!

All of the Koopalings and Marios were all jammed on the small tennis court when it suddenly grew ten times in size and the stormy clouds came back. In darkness, the Koopas and Marios tried to follow the glowing tennis ball.

Roy: Get that!

Morton: I’m trying, I’m attempting, I’m-

Metal Mario: You’ll all lose!

But Roy’s swing knocked the ball past Metal Mario, giving the Koopa/Mario team a 40-15 deficit.

Roy: Keep on giving them to us, and we’ll keep on winning!

Metal Mario: Try to hit this!

Metal Mario hit an electrified ball at Roy.

Roy: NO!!!

But Bowser stepped in to hit the ball. Eventually the point was won by Daisy, making the score Metal Mario
40-30.

Metal Mario: This is the game-winner here!

A fireball came flying at the Koopas and Mario Gang. But Mario stepped up and fired his own fireball. The
time the fireball took taking in more heat let Luigi knock it back over, bouncing past Metal Mario’s left leg for a winner, tying it 40-all!

Metal Mario: Arrrgh, nothing’s working! Not even bribing the scriptwriter... so I’ll have to use this final ball, a Bob-omb in disguise.

Metal Mario served the Bob-omb to Yoshi, who hit it back into Metal Mario’s nose, blowing up in his face!

Yoshi: Yoshi always win!

Up Advantage-40, the Koopa/Mario team was one point away from final victory. But then Metal Mario used a
real ball and won the point easily on an ace over Donkey Kong’s head, a rare occasion.

Donkey Kong Jr.: What are you doing? (Wearing a translator, of course!)

Metal Mario: Time to reclaim the lead!

Metal Mario couldn’t get the ball past Wario, however, and after a few hits back and forth, Lemmy hit the
ball back for a winner, and a new lead by one.

Lemmy: One away!

Metal Mario: Time for some help!

The Chargin’ Chucks lined up to play tennis.

Metal Mario: Now I have eleven helpers here to let me win this one! It’s over now!

Waluigi whiffed to give Metal Mario a tie.

Luigi: Fire him!

The Chargin’ Chucks then won the next point to make it a one-point Metal Mario lead.

Peach: I’m not losing my kingdom!

Bowser: How do you think I’ll feel if I lose?

Metal Mario: This is it!

Metal Mario served one past everyone, but out of bounds for one more serve, which he put in the net. A
double fault gave the Koopa/Mario team a tie.

Metal Mario: I’ll win, eventually!

A Chargin’ Chuck’s head blocked a Metal Mario serve, and Metal Mario’s second serve hits the net once more for another Koopa/Mario Gang point!

Mario: We’re-a one away!

Wario: We’re-a gonna win!

Metal Mario fired the ball right to Daisy. Calmly, Daisy tapped the ball back, and it bouncsd off Metal Mario’s shoe to win the game!

Daisy: Yahoo!

Bowser: We won, Metal Moron!

Metal Mario: Come, Chargin’ Chucks! I’ll win next time!

Metal Mario shrunk and the Chargin’ Chucks jumped on him.

Metal Mario: Arrrgh! Stupid scriptwriter!

Chapter Seven: Epilogue

The Koopalings all wanted to play tennis day and night. Bowser was so sick of it that he banned all tennis playing for a week, but Koopalings would still sneak out at midnight and play on a lit court, so Bowser finally had to get the Koopalings obsessed with something else.

Bowser: Hey, I'm going racing go-karts, so I'll see you later!

Lemmy: We want to race-

Iggy: Go-karts just like you!

Wendy: I want to RACE!

Bowser: ARRRGH!!! Here we go again...

The End
