Peach's Castle (Peach sequence 5)
Items: Jammin' Jelly, Sneaky Parasol

Looks like Peach is starting to enjoy sneaking out, heh heh. Take her out of her room again, then go downstairs. Head west and take the door in the west wall. You'll end up getting caught by a Koopatrol, but instead of being sent back to your room you'll be drafted as the third player in a quiz game. Fun for the whole family! There are ten questions, and if you get more right than either of your Koopatrol opponents you'll earn the grand prize, a Jammin' Jelly! Not bad. The questions and answers are as follows (note: questions may not be word for word):

Q. What is the name of the boss inside the volcano on Lavalava Island?
A. Lava Piranha

Q. Where did Master Huff N. Puff emprison the Star Spirit?
A. Flower Fields

Q. What is the name of the scary round monster living in Dry Dry Ruins?
A. Chomp

Q. How would you get to Flower Fields?
A. Pass Flower Gate

Q. What is the name of the person who King Bowser really likes?
A. Princess Peach

Q. What thing is most closely related to Flower Fields?
A. Flower

Q. What's the name of the most admirable, invincible, just downright cool guy around?
A. Bowser

Q. What's the name for the ghosts who live in and around Forever Forest?
A. Boo

Q. What's the name of the area just to the south of the Post Office?
A. The Flower Garden

Q. Where is Peach's Castle now?
A. On Bowser's Castle

You can buzz in before the question is fully displayed to beat your opponents to the answer choices. Once you buzz in, you have unlimited time to select an answer, so you can check this guide if you need to.

Win or lose, you'll receive a Sneaky Parasol. You'll have to promise you won't use it to sneak around. I mean, you could make yourself look like one of the guards or something! Just then, Bowser shows up. For some reason he notices the quiz props but not you and wants to play. It doesn't seem like a good idea to me to tell the king that the game's over so he can't play. In any case, you'll end up getting caught and sent back to your room.

Even if you are brain-dead, I hope you have noticed a trend here.

Jade Jungle (5)

Misstar will increase your Star Energy to five and give you a new Star Power, Smooch. It's disgusting, but it's very helpful when you're in a jam. After she leaves, Kolorado, who is still bitterly disappointed at not having found the treasure, will slowly trudge back to Yoshi Village. Someone as depressed as he is should never be left alone, so hurry after him.

Yoshi Village (4)
Item: Melon

The adult yellow Yoshi will give you a Melon in return for some tasty food. Several kinds of food work, but the cheapest I know of is Maple Super. Kolorado decides that maybe the treasure got blasted out of the volcano. What are the odds? Humor the poor guy and head back to Jade Jungle.

Jade Jungle (6)
Enemies: Hurt Plant, M. Bush
Item: Volcano Vase

Head back to where you found Sushie. In case you forgot how to get there, head through the row of bushes by inspecting them in the center, then take the northeast exit. You'll end up finding a treasure chest containing a Volcano Vase. Take it back to Yoshi Village.

Yoshi Village (5)
Item: Magical Seed

Kolorado will be so delighted to see the Volcano Vase that he'll give you a Magical Seed, which should be your fourth. Personally, I think you should have held on to the vase and demanded more. Kolorado will head back to the whale. You'd better follow him to make sure he doesn't get into any more trouble.

Jade Jungle (7)
Enemy: Jungle Fuzzy
Boss: Jr. Troopa

Head all the way west back to the whale. Ride it back to Toad Town, and just as you depart Jr. Troopa will show up and try to challenge you. You're already gone though, so he'll end up chasing you back to Toad Town. Just as soon as you step off the whale, he'll catch up to you and challenge you for real. He should be really tired by now, so put Jr. Troopa to bed. Then you're free to walk around Toad Town.

Toad Town (13)
Item: Letter
Badge: Damage Dodge, Mega Quake, S. Smash Chg.

If you delivered the chain Letter through the Red Yoshi Kid you should now have a Letter for Dane T., the red Toad just east of the train. He'll give you a Letter for Fross T., who you can't reach right now. You should also have a Letter to deliver to Russ T. in exchange for a Star Piece. If you go the Dojo and head south you should find a dock so you can swim with Sushie. There are two docks in the water. One leads to a Star Piece, the other leads to a warp pipe. Enter the warp pipe to briefly step into Toad Town Tunnels. At the east end of the passage is a Super Block. Use it on one of your friends, then head back above ground.

Rowf will now be selling the Damage Dodge, Mega Quake, and S. Smash Chg. Badges. If you check by the Toad House you'll notice that Kolorado is still hanging around. Apparently something is blocking the way to Koopa Village. Best go down Pleasant Path and see what it is.

Pleasant Path (4)
Boss: Kent C. Koopa
The visit to this area is optional.

It's Kent C. Koopa, a Koopa Troopa as large as Bowser, and he won't move out of the way unless you pay 100 coins... or beat him up. I prefer the latter myself, but it's tough. Stomp Kent C. Koopa if you can, then head back to Toad Town.

Toad Town (14)

Kolorado must have passed you on his way to Koopa Village when the screen blanked out as you entered Toad Town. At this time I suggest you take a visit to Toad Town Tunnels.

Toad Town Tunnels (4)
Enemies: Buzzy Beetle, Dark Koopa, Spike Top
Boss: Super Blooper with Blooper Babies
Item: Tasty Meal
Badge: Bump Attack

Head west past the set of three warp pipes and continue west until you reach the room with the balance platforms. Take the warp pipe in the southeast corner of this room and you'll make it to a chamber with two Metal Blocks. Past them is a Super Block for one of your friends.

Return to the first room of the tunnels and drop down through the hole. Use Sushie to swim across to the east and prepare for the Super Blooper that will attack you as you pull yourself up on shore. Frying it will earn you a Switch which will open a pipe to Yoshi Village. Head east and you'll be in a room with spikes against the north wall. You can't get past them now so take the east exit. In the next room, use Bombette to blow up the east wall so you can pass through and meet Rip Cheato. This strange, conniving fellow will sell you items for 64 coins each. Sometimes he'll give you a Star Piece, Badge, or powerful item, but sometimes he'll give you something lame. You won't know until you buy! Actually, there is a set order. You can get the Bump Attack Badge and two Star Pieces fairly quickly, along with some lesser items, but if you want his third Star Piece you'll need to haggle through a lot of Dried Shrooms. If you really want all the Star Pieces in the game, you'll probably want to wear the Money Money Badge so you can afford to buy lots of stuff from him.

Head east through the warp pipe and you'll end up in a building. Pick up the Key on the floor and use it to unlock the door that leads back to Toad Town.

By the way, now might be a convenient time to talk to Koopa Koot and check around for Quizmo. There will also be a trading event if you change the radio in Koopa Village to the Information Station. You'll need to hurry to Yoshi Village, where you can hit the tree near the east exit of the village to find a Coconut. Hurry back to Toad Town's pier, enter Club 64, and give the Coconut to the pink Toad to receive your third and final prize, a Tasty Meal.

Toad Town (15)

Speak to Mihn T. in the Flower Garden near Rowf and give her the four Magical Seeds you should have picked up. This will somehow cause a door to appear in, uh, the air. You can walk right around it as there are no walls, just... a door. Somehow you can walk through the door to Flower Fields, which seems to be in some kind of trouble.

Flower Fields
Enemies: Amazy Dayzee, Bzzap!, Crazee Dayzee, G. Magikoopa, Monty Mole, Ruff Puff, Spiny, Y. Magikoopa
Bosses: Lakitus and Spinies, Spike?, Lakitus and Y. Magikoopa with Spinies, Huff N. Puff with Tuff Puffs
Items: Blue Berry, Bubble Berry, Crystal Berry, Dizzy Dial, Fertile Soil, Jammin' Jelly, Letter, Magical Bean, Maple Syrup, Miracle Water, Red Berry, Shooting Star, Stinky Herb, Strange Leaf, Water Stone, Yellow Berry
Badges: Flower Saver, Happy Flower, Mega Smash, S. Jump Chg.

You'll make it to Flower Fields by walking through Old Wise Wisterwood, who will then explain this land's problems. Apparently a huge cloud is blotting out the sun so all the flowers are suffering. Of course they would like you to do something about it, like you can control the weather. Welcome to Flower Fields, the core area of Chapter Six. Actually, it's not really that large, and this might be the shortest of the eight Chapters. The enemies pull some interesting tricks, but you can take them. If Goombario is on Ultra level, he's the best party member to use throughout most of this area, otherwise use Bow. You'll probably want to switch to Watt when you see Spiny because of his high defense.

Take the east exit (in the middle, not north or south). Near the entrance you'll see three trees. If you Hammer the middle tree first, then the east tree, and finally the west tree you'll find a Happy Flower Badge. Anything else will result in your being attacked by a Bzzap!. If you brush past the green plants lining the north wall here or anywhere else, they may or may not drop a Stinky Herb or Strange Leaf. Take the east exit. You'll meet Petunia, who is being plagued by Monty Moles and a Crazee Dayzee, which she says you don't have to worry about. Take out the fickle flower to make it easier to engage the Monty Moles in battle. Once you've defeated all four sets of Monty Moles, Petunia will give you a Magical Bean, and strict orders not to plant it. Hammer the tree in the northwest corner and pick up one of the Red Berries that falls, then find the hidden Star Piece panel in the southwest corner before heading back to Old Wise Wisterwood.

From the central area head southwest. You will need to give the red flower a Red Berry in order to get past the gate. Once through, head west until you see a tree. Hammer it and pick up one of the Yellow Berries that fall, then check just south of it for a hidden Star Piece panel. Take the west exit and you'll meet Posie, who will give you a Fertile Soil despite your making fun of her nose. Return to Old Wise Wisterwood and head southeast.

Feed the yellow flower your Yellow Berry to get by his gate. You'll need to use Parakarry to get past the spiky red vines. Once across, head to the north wall and then west until you reach a Super Block. Back in the northeast corner of this panel, you may find Amazy Dayzee, who looks like a Crazee Dayzee but is a brighter yellow and runs away from you in Field Mode. If you can defeat her you'll earn many a Star Point, but it is tough to do because she has 20 HP, is just about immune to status effects, and usually runs on her first turn. If she doesn't run, it could be the end of the game for you since her attack power is also 20, the highest in the game. To beat her, wear the Power Plus and All or Nothing Badges, as well as D-Down Jump. You'll need to get a Jumping first strike and have Goombario use Multibonk a few times. She can be defeated! If you don't see her in this panel, leave and return and she may show up.

Hammer the tree in the northeast corner and collect both Blue Berries that fall. Take the east exit and you'll come to a thin panel with several docks, but no water to swim in. The ? Block in the northwest corner contains a Dizzy Dial, while a hidden ? Block in the northeast corner contains a Maple Syrup. There's also a hidden Star Piece panel right under the hidden ? Block. Head east. In the next panel, head all the way east and Hammer the tree for a Jammin' Jelly. Don't miss it and fall into the area with Lily like I once did! Grr. Lily, who won't notice you for a while, is looking for a prince to save her, as without water she'll collapse from her own weight. You look much more like a plumber than a prince, but you'll have to do. Return to Old Wise Wisterwood, then head all the way east past Petunia to a well. Drop in one of your Blue Berries and you'll be rewarded with a Flower Saver Badge. Return to Old Wise Wisterwood once more.

Head west and give your other Blue Berry to the blue flower to gain admittance. There's a hidden ? Block between the Spring and wooden block. Use the Spring to bounce onto the hidden block, then jump onto the wooden block and find the Shooting Star in the hidden block on top of it. Take the west exit and knock off the Lakitus that attack you. This panel is a grassy maze, but it's not too hard. Walk west as far as you can, then walk north and then west until you can push south through the dark green bushes. Once you do, head south, then east, and then north until you can push west through the bushes to a warp pipe. Use the warp, then when you exit head east through the bushes to a 10-coin block, then take the west exit. You'll meet Rosie and the Water Stone that Lily needs, but the vain flower won't give it up unless you can find something even prettier than the stone she's got.

Head east back to Old Wise Wisterwood, then southwest to Posie. Speak to her and she'll end up giving you a Crystal Berry. Return to Wisterwood, then head west back to Rosie. She'll graciously trade you the Crystal Berry in exchange for the Water Stone, which you should rush back to Lily, to the southeast of Wisterwood. When you give it to her the water will return in her pool, and in the pool one panel to the west. So, walk west for one panel and use Sushie to reach the island against the north wall. Hammer the tree and pick up one of the Bubble Berries that fall. Return to Old Wise Wisterwood once more.

Take the northwest exit and give your Bubble Berry to the bubble flower. Jump into his bubble to float west across the spiky red vines. When you're released, head north and then east, through the log, to retrieve a Star Piece in the northwest corner. Head back west and continue west until you can take a short flight up stairs up against the north wall. Hurry past the Lakitus as they will drop an endless supply of Spinies. Once up the stairs, have Bombette destroy the rock so you can drop down and pick up the Mega Smash Badge. Drop down to the ground and take the east exit.

In the next area, head west along the ground until you see a boulder. Have Bombette destroy it, then climb the tower. After speaking to the Sun, head east back to Old Wise Wisterwood. Along the way, you'll meet Lakilester- er, I mean, Michael- whoops, I meant to say Spike, who you'll have to defeat. After you do, you get to hit him with a POW and a Fire Flower, and then- ok ok, after you beat him, Lakilester joins you. Aren't we priviliged? Now head back to Wisterwood.

Take the northeast exit. Welcome to the hardest puzzle of the game. Your task is to use Lakilester to cross the spiky vines surrounding the large blocks in front of you while using a Ground Pound to lower and raise the blocks until you can reach the other side. There are seven blocks; from left to right, the first is red, the second is green, the third is red, the fourth is green, the fifth is purple, the sixth is green, and the seventh is purple. Pound the blocks in the following order:

1-6-5-2-6-7

If you messed it up, leave the panel and come back to reset the blocks. Once you're past the blocks, head east until you see a Spring in a cage. You can get to it by sneaking through the wall to the east. Bounce on up and head west to find a Super Block. Afterwards head east from the Super Block and use Parakarry to fly over some flowers you usually fall through. Ground pound the area just past that, and a Star Piece will fall to the ground below. Drop down to the ground and pick it up, then use the east exit. In the next panel, walk across the first log or float across the first spiky pit, then check to the south and you should find a Letter to Mihn T. hidden in some orange flowers. Continue east to the next panel, but before taking the exit find the Thunder Rage in the hidden block to the east. Now take the exit, then smash the Puff Puff Machine twice and it will be boss time against Lakitus and Y. Magikoopa. After they run off, continue to smash the machine with your Hammer and Bombette, enjoying the second best moment of the game after beating up Goombario, until it's completely destroyed.

With the Sun back in the sky, head back to Old Wise Wisterwood. Find the brown patch south of him and use the Fertile Soil, then the Magical Bean, and finally the Miracle Water. This will cause a huge beanstalk to sprout, and then there will be a cameo of a kid named Jack, and- well, there will be a tall beanstalk anyway. Climb on up by hopping onto the dark green leaf at its base. When you reach the top, board the cloud near the northwest corner that rises up and down so that you can reach an S. Jump Chg. Badge. Once you have it, head east until you bump into a piece of cloud darker than the surrounding areas. It's actually Huff N. Puff, who you'll have to blow away.

Once you defeat Huff N. Puff you'll rescue the sixth Star Spirit, Klevar, and complete Chapter Six. Well well, only one more Star Spirit to go. To get it, however, you'll need to venture through what may well be the strangest area in any Mario game.

Go to the next chapter.
